Fürchte dich nicht!

29.05 – 05.07.2026

Kant-Garagen, Kantstraße 126, 10625 Berlin

Pascal Wild’s paintings are inhabited by figures that move through states of emotional overload while insisting on staying open, playful and vulnerable. They smile, pose, carry swords, animals or symbols of strength, yet beneath their exaggerated gestures and cartoon-like appearances lies a constant instability.

The title Fürchte dich nicht (“Do not be afraid”) functions less as reassurance than as a fragile inner monologue: a sentence one repeats when control has already begun to dissolve. Wild’s protagonists continue anyway, persisting through fantasy, exaggeration and emotional projection.

Between sharply defined faces, eyes and gestures and raw, collapsing painterly spaces, the works create psychological situations where innocence and excess, tenderness and threat, false heroism and quiet desperation coexist. Humour is never used to ridicule vulnerability. It becomes a strategy of survival.

Lucky Charms

Raffle Arts · Bushy Pony, Berlin · May 8 – 22, 2026

What is luck and why do we so often attach it to our surroundings?

LUCKY CHARMS brings together artistic perspectives on the ways we search for and construct luck in everyday life. Rather than focusing on traditional talismans, the exhibition turns to the ordinary or not so ordinary: fleeting encounters, personal rituals, familiar environments, and subtle moments that quietly carry our expectations of fortune.

Luck appears not as a fixed state, but as a projection: something we assign, invent, and continuously negotiate. In a world shaped by uncertainty, meaning shifts from object to experience, from symbol to situation.

RAFFLE ARTS translates this idea into a contemporary format: art is not only observed, but experienced through the mechanism of chance. Positioned between play, anticipation, and value, the relationship to the artwork changes perspectives, perhaps reshaping our understanding of luck itself.

Come by and surround yourself with something beautiful and maybe… good luck?!

About

Pascal Wild paints modern man as a child who never stopped looking at the world with wide eyes — curious, unprepared, and always one step too far gone. At the center of his paintings stands a recurring figure: an alter ego with an unmistakable face, stumbling out of pure curiosity into mythological, archetypal, and absurd situations. This figure is him. And it is us. The human being on an endless search for the self — caught between temptation and disorientation, between childlike wonder and adult overwhelm.

In Wild's cosmos, hedonism is not a stance — it's a trap. His figure doesn't consciously tumble into excess; it gets pulled in, because life is simply more seductive than the task at hand. The Augean stables are waiting. But there's a party next door. And so the hero stands there, watches, and can't quite say when he lost control. It is this universal weakness — knowing what's right, and doing something else entirely — that makes Wild's paintings feel so familiar. No judgment, no moral. Just the scene, painted honestly and with a quiet grin.

Formally, Wild works in the tension between control and chaos: a sketchy, restless background meets a sharply contoured figure glowing in color. The world is grey and anxious. The self is the only thing that shines. Humor is his medium. Color his language. And the great myths of humanity are his playground.
